Open Pit Mining (Stripmining)-This process removes all surface soils and rock to get ore that contains urainium. This process is only useful if the uranium is close to the surface.

Underground Mining- This gets higher concentrations of uranium that are too deep, they drill deep into the ground to obtain the uranium. Unfortunately, this process is very expensive.

Milling- The rock is crushed into very fine fragments and water is added to create slurry, it's mixed with sulfuric acid or an alkaline solution to create yellowcake and uranium oxide. These are both forms for uranium but, they aren't the purest form of uranium.

What is Half Life?

Half life is the time taken for the radioactivity of a specified isotope to fall to half its original value.

For example, the radioactive decay of carbon-14 has a half life of 5730 years. This means that regardless of the amount of carbon-14, it will decay to half of that in 5730 years.
